Logan Brewer, D.O.
Status: PGY-2, Recruiting Chief Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine I was born in Michigan, but I spent most of my life growing up in northeast Ohio. I did my undergrad and played volleyball at Hiram College and completed medical school at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. It was only natural for me to return back home to continue to learn and serve the community and Aultman was the perfect fit for that! There was no other program that combined team-centered learning in an environment with colleagues who truly want you to succeed. I feel so grateful to be a part of the Aultman family. Outside of medicine, I love playing sports, binge listening to true-crime podcasts, riding my bike, and laying on the couch with my two cats, Harlow and Tonks.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine I was born here at Aultman Hospital and raised in Canton. Growing up I loved math and science and thought I wanted to be an engineer, but eventually decided my career would be more fulfilling if it was more people-centered and spent helping others. That lead me to Kent State where I got my undergraduate degree in psychology, then to Ohio University for medical school. I always thought that family medicine was a good fit, and every clinical rotation in medical school reaffirmed to me that this is where I belong. I found along the way that I enjoy helping underserved populations that need primary care the most, which made Aultman’s program great for me. I get the challenge and privilege of serving the very community that raised me, and I can do that through an FQHC that delivers healthcare to those with complex problems, who may not get the care they need otherwise. Having the opportunity to complete residency in my hometown is truly a dream come true. In my free time I love to play golf, cook for my family and friends, kayak, fish, and watch sports. Go Browns!

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine I was born in Pakistan and moved to Toronto, Canada at the age of 11. I grew up and completed my undergraduate studies in Toronto, and then went to medical school at Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean. When thinking about residency programs, I wanted a program with a challenging full-spectrum curriculum, one that would support my medical interests and goals, and most importantly, a program that felt like a family. Aultman Family Medicine exceeded all these criteria when I was fortunate enough to do a rotation here during my 4th year of medical school. I felt incredibly welcomed, and was immediately drawn to the kind, open and welcoming culture among the attendings, residents and staff. Now as a resident in this program, I continue to be impressed by the supportive environment, quality of faculty mentorship, lots of educational opportunities and excellent training in all aspects of family medicine. I know this program will shape me into a well-rounded family physician ready to serve any community. I am looking forward to training at Aultman and living in Canton, Ohio for my residency! Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking, baking, painting, watching crime shows and spending time with my cat.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine The Niagara Region in Ontario has been “home” for most of my life; it is where I was born and raised, where I attended university, and where I entered the healthcare field as an emergency department nurse. Though I had a passion for nursing, I had always aspired to pursue a career in medicine. I first left my nook in the Niagara peninsula to attend medical school at Saba University School of Medicine. I studied on the small island of Saba for 20 months (surviving two hurricanes!), and later experienced many regions of the United States, from Missouri to New York City, as I completed clinical rotations. The breadth of medicine, flexibility in career choices, diverse procedural opportunities, and longevity of physician-patient relationships drew me to family medicine. Through my peers, I had heard countless great things about Aultman Hospital and it’s Family Medicine Residency Program. During my clinical rotation here as a student, I was finally able to see for myself what all the fuss was about! Aultman boasts a rich academic program complimented by incredibly warm and affable faculty, residents, and staff members. I quickly realized I had found a second home in Canton, Ohio for myself and my cat, Geoff. I am so excited to be a member of the Aultman team! Outside of the hospital, I love to kayak, work-out with Shaun T, read non-fiction books, learn languages on Duolingo, and bake banana bread.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine I was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and grew up in several countries before moving to Canada. I attended McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and earned a Bachelor of Science Kinesiology. I worked as a Kinesiologist before starting my medical school journey at Saba University School of Medicine. My interest in Family Medicine started at a younger age, as I grew up with a mom in Family Medicine, which allowed me to appreciate the relationships she developed with her patients and their families, and the care she provided for our community. This interest further grew throughout my clinical clerkships, as I enjoyed several aspects of many specialties, and especially my Family Medicine electives. I had heard only positive things from prior students who had rotated at Aultman for their Family Medicine elective. After completing my rotation at Aultman, I can confidently agree with everyone else’s opinion. The program has created a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental environment that encourages you to learn and grow. When I’m not at the hospital, I do enjoy staying active, whether its working out, hiking or recently volleyball. I also love exploring new cities, trying new foods (but chipotle will always have my heart), as well as spending time with the good ol’ Netflix.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine I was born in Accra, Ghana and moved to the US to attend a small women’s college called Mount Holyoke in Massachusetts. After college, I worked as a Research Associate at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Houston for over 3 years. During this time, I volunteered at MD Anderson Cancer Center where I offered beverages to patients. I felt most fulfilled interacting with patients which led me to pursue my life-long dream of becoming a physician. I later moved to Dominica to attend Ross University School of Medicine but had to relocate to St. Kitts after experiencing Hurricane Maria. I spent my first semester of medical school on a cruise ship! I am excited to have matched into the Aultman Family Medicine Residency Program. Even though interviews were virtual due to the pandemic, the mutual respect residents had for attendings and vice versa was more than palpable to me and I knew Aultman would be an excellent place to train. Aultman is my match made in heaven! My time here so far has been amazing. Attendings are patient, approachable and enjoy teaching. I have not lived in one place for more than 4 years in the past decade, but I already feel at home here. Outside of medicine, I love to try new things and have dabbled in Modern Dance, lawn tennis, drumming, swimming as an adult (which was both terrifying and fun!). I am currently teaching myself how to play the piano (still figuring out how to play chords!). I also enjoy running (more of walking now!), visiting museums, watching Nigerian movies and making smoothies.

Status: PGY-2, Recruiting Chief Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine I was born in Iran and moved to Vancouver, Canada with my family when I was in high school. After completing high school, I went to Manchester, England for my undergrad where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. I then moved back to Vancouver where I worked at a research lab and obtained my Master’s in Experimental Medicine. During my clinical rotations I came to enjoy family medicine the most, and what stood out to me, was the continuity of care. I believe there is nothing more rewarding than developing a long lasting relationship with patients and having the opportunity to care for them throughout the different stages of their lives. I did not rotate at Aultman; however, during the interview season I was drawn to the program because of the many wonderful things I heard from friends and classmates. Throughout my interview, the supportive, collegial and tight-knit culture of the program greatly resonated with me. I was certain that Aultman was the right fit and would provide the perfect learning environment for me to excel and acquire the skills necessary to provide exceptional patient care. Outside of medicine, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, new restaurants, and cafes with my wife, and playing soccer and volleyball.
