Second Year Residents
Emily Cubberley, D.O.
Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine I was born in Canton Ohio, and I grew up in Carrollton Ohio. I received my undergraduate biology degree at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, and completed medical school at Ohio University. There are many things that drew me to primary care. The continuity of care, variety of pathology, the wide age range of patients, and the flexibility to perform procedures were all appealing to me. When choosing a residency program, I wanted a program that had approachable attendings with a passion for teaching, a strong well-rounded curriculum, and the opportunity to perform a lot of procedures. I found all of those qualities and more at Aultman, and felt welcome right away. I also wanted to stay in the area because I hope to practice in my hometown of Carrollton after residency. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The attendings and senior residents have been very supportive and a pleasure to work with. Outside of medicine I like to do anything outdoors. My hobbies include hiking, horseback riding, fishing, target shooting, running, and square and line dancing.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine I was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada and completed my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa. Looking up to my own family doctor, I developed a passion for medicine at an early age. My first volunteer job was at a children’s hospital and I absolutely loved it! Wanting to see medicine in different settings, I volunteered at a few other hospitals in my home town. I also ran two medicine-focused organizations at the University of Ottawa: Initiative for Global Health and Relay for Life for cancer awareness. These experiences helped me realize that I want to dedicate my career to helping those of all ages and cultural backgrounds who are seeking medical care for a diverse range of reasons. Caring for people long-term, being committed to preventative healthcare, and giving back to the community, are the reasons I gravitate towards Family Medicine as a specialty. I obtained my medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and was fortunate to have traveled to several states across the US during my clerkship rotations. After having traveled to the Southern US, the West Coast, the East Coast, and the Midwest, Family Medicine at Aultman remained my favorite rotation. Aultman values education and provides a structured and friendly environment to learn and excel. I immediately felt welcomed and supported throughout my duration as a student, and continue to feel that way now as a resident. I am grateful to be part of the Family Medicine Residency team at Aultman and am excited to begin this new chapter!

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine I was born and raised in Brantford, Canada. After high school, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Upon deciding to go to medical school, I chose to attend the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten. After basic sciences on the island, I completed most of my clinical rotations throughout New York.
During my interview at Aultman Hospital, when I asked faculty and residents what they felt was the biggest strength of the program, I got the same answer – ‘the people.’ This camaraderie throughout the program, combined with an excellent curriculum with faculty dedicated to teaching, made my decision to rank Aultman Family Medicine as my top choice, an easy one. After my interview at Aultman, I was fortunate to have an opportunity to complete a clinical rotation here. Each day I was here, simply strengthened and reinforced my decision to rank this program as my top choice. I am thrilled to have matched at Aultman and have felt welcomed and supported by everyone here. I am very thankful and excited to be a part of the Aultman Family Medicine family and look forward to continuing my journey here! |

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine I was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, but as a "military brat" I lived in many places in Canada and the US. My pathway into medicine was as full of twists and turns as my growing up. I earned my undergraduate degree in Biology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, then worked for many years in the legal and education fields. To finally achieve my life-long dream of being a doctor, I attended Saba University School of Medicine. I was drawn to Family Medicine because I love the depth and continuity of care involved. The saying “from womb to tomb” is a perfect synopsis of the diverse opportunities the family physician has to positively impact the patient’s quality of life at all stages. It’s also important to me that being in Family Medicine allows many opportunities to give back to the community. Although most of my rotations were around the Baltimore area, I had the good fortune of doing a Hospice and Palliative Care elective at Aultman. I immediately fell in love with the programs and people here. I was impressed at how friendly and helpful the residents are and how welcoming and approachable the faculty are. Aultman Family Medicine feels like a family while still providing an excellent education. I’m excited to do my training in such a diverse, dedicated, and compassionate program! Outside of work, I love to spend time with my husband and our animals and am looking forward to exploring Canton and the surrounding areas.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine I was born in India but grew up in Dayton, Ohio. I received my undergraduate degree in biology and my master’s degree in business administration from Wright State University. I then completed medical school at Ohio University. I was always drawn to primary care but knew that family medicine was the right specialty for me after completing my clinical rotations. Family medicine allows me to build a strong relationship with my patients while treating a wide range of pathology in a very diverse population. When deciding where to pursue my residency, my top priorities were employee satisfaction and a well -rounded training curriculum. I not only found what I was searching for, at Aultman Hospital, but was blown away. Every day I hear employees who are proud to be a part of this hospital for the past 15, 30, sometimes 45 years! Additionally, the attendings here are all incredibly caring and eager to teach. Therefore, I am very excited about my residency and future here at Aultman!

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Growing up in Stark County and Alliance, Ohio all my life, I have really come to love the community we have. Through ups and downs, these experiences helped make me who I am today, which inspired me to want to give back in any way possible. I studied at nearby College of Wooster for my undergraduate, where I discovered my passion for medicine and the health sciences. That culminated into medical school at Ohio University which eventually brought me back home to Stark County and Aultman Hospital. I am very fortunate to have matched in a hospital that shares my same passion to improving the lives of Stark County. I was drawn to how tight-knit, organized, and outgoing the faculty and residents were on my interview day. Everyone here has a passion for teaching and is always willing to lend a hand in times of need. Plus, being twenty minutes away from home enables me to be close to family and friends as well! I hope to be able to serve in both outpatient and inpatient settings here in Ohio, with current interests in either diabetes research or palliative care. Outside of work, I love debating medical topics with my awesome future physician girlfriend, jogging, playing piano, and making art of my favorite video games.

Status: PGY-2 Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine I was born and raised in Southern Ontario just outside of Niagara Falls. My mother is a registered nurse which initially sparked my interest in the medical field. I began volunteering at my local hospital and it was there I realized that medicine is my passion. Following that dream I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Brock University. I then pursued a medical degree through Saba University School of Medicine. During my medical school rotations, I gained experience in various states including New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Ohio. I fell in love with Canton, Ohio during two rotations here as it felt very similar to home. The program, and more specifically its faculty members and residents stood above any program I had rotated with previously. Aultman Family Medicine was my first choice above many and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I have been married now close to two years and my wife and I are enjoying our time here thus far. Being Canadian my hobbies include hockey, of course, as well as soccer, volleyball, and hunting. I look forward to being involved in the community and treating its members to the best of my ability.
