2016-2017 NRC - Consumer Choice Award
For the 21st consecutive year, Aultman Hospital has earned the “Consumer Choice Award” and has been named Canton’s “Most Preferred Hospital for Overall Quality and Image” by National Research Corporation. This is the 21st consecutive year Aultman has received the award, making it one of only 32 hospitals nationwide to have earned the honor every single year the award has been handed out.
U.S. News and World Report - Best Hospitals
Aultman Hospital has been ranked as one of the best hospitals for 2016-17 in Ohio by U.S. News & World Report. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients. In addition to being ranked 15th in the state, Aultman Hospital has also been recognized as “High Performing” in the following specialty areas: Gynecology and Pulmonology.
"A" Hospital Safety Score
Aultman Hospital was honored with an “A” grade in the spring 2016 Hospital Safety Score, an elite national program that rates how well hospitals protect patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit. The first and only hospital safety rating to be peer-reviewed in the Journal of Patient Safety, the Hospital Safety Score is free to the public and designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.
Fit-Friendly Worksite Award
The American Heart Association named Aultman Health Foundation a platinum-level Fit-Friendly Worksite for promoting physical activity and employee wellness. Aultman was among nine Ohio hospitals and health systems to earn platinum designation for promoting physical activity, nutrition and culture, and demonstrating measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness.
50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals
Aultman Hospital was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics.™ The study, now in its 18th year, singled out 50 hospitals that achieved superior clinical outcomes in this critical area of hospital care. This is the fifth time Aultman has been recognized with this honor.
For the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study, Truven Health researchers analyzed 2013 and 2015 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) data, 2015 Medicare cost reports, and second-quarter 2016 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare data.
Aultman Hospital received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2015. Aultman is one of only 319 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor. The award recognizes Aultman’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Aultman has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations. 2016 Mission: Lifeline ® Receiving Center GOLD PLUS
Aultman is part of an elite group of hospitals recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for our quality of heart attack care as demonstrated through our 2015 ACTION Registry®-GWTG™ data. This award recognizes our success in implementing a high quality of care program by ensuring that our STEMI program treats patients according to nationally accepted guidelines. (2016)
Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus
Aultman has received the 2016 American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite Plus. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
Silver Beacon Award for Excellence
The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) awarded a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Aultman Hospital. The Beacon Award for Excellence — a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care and healthy work environments — recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards. Units that achieve this three-year, three-level award with a gold, silver or bronze designation meet national criteria consistent with Magnet Recognition, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the National Quality Healthcare Award.
Aultman is proud to be accredited by The Joint Commission, which is the national accrediting body for hospitals and other health care delivery organizations. The Joint Commission mission is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.
Aultman Hospital received recognition for the third time from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® for nursing excellence. Magnet recognition is an achievement shared by only 7 percent of hospitals in the nation. Aultman first achieved Magnet status in 2006 and remains the only Magnet-designated organization in Stark County.
Aultman Hospital has been redesignated as a Nurses Improving Care for Healthsytem Elders (NICHE) facility, illustrating commitment to excellence in geriatric care. Aultman earned initial NICHE designation in 2013 and has been redesignated each year since. Through participation in the NICHE program — a leading elder care nursing program — Aultman is able to offer evidence-based, interdisciplinary approaches that promote better outcomes, positive experiences, and improved care for older adults.
Cancer Center National Accreditations
The Aultman Cancer Center recently received accreditations from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The CoC of the American College of Surgeons granted Aultman Three-year Accreditation with Commendation. Aultman was also one of a select group of only 75 U.S. health care facilities with accredited cancer programs to receive the national Outstanding Achievement Award from the CoC. The award acknowledges cancer programs that achieve excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients.
Certified Stroke Center
Aultman Hospital is a Primary Stroke Center, certified by The Joint Commission. We were the first hospital in Stark County to earn certification – and the 13th in the state of Ohio. Achievement of the Joint Commission certification signifies that Aultman Hospital provides the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving stroke outcomes.
Verified by the American College of Surgeons, Level II Adult Trauma Center
The American College of Surgeons has verified Aultman as a Level II Trauma Center, accredited through 2016, and verified to meet the standards for excellence in trauma care. As a Level II facility, Aultman provides definitive care for injured patients and is committed to trauma education and prevention.
